Coilhouse

If you go to this link, you can see a small ad that will be in Coilhouse #4 that features the cover of Electric Velocipede #19! I made their website!! I decided to try running ads as part of their small business program. My hope was that I could reach an audience that would be interested in Electric Velocipede but might not be a part of the genre crowd.

They decided to post the small business ads now since the issue wouldn't get to people until after the new year and perhaps there are people still holiday shopping who need to find gifts that are not necessarily what you'd find at the mall. You can see the full ads here. As the publishers say:

We’d much rather have these folks in our pages than a Toyota or a Budweiser, so we hope you support them by checking out their projects.
And what is Coilhouse? From the Art and Popular Culture Encyclopedia:
Coilhouse is a blog and magazine put together by Zoetica Ebb, Nadya Lev and Meredith Yayanos. They call their writing , "a love letter to alternate culture composed in an era when alternate culture no longer exists."
The current issue, #3, features article about Kowloon the Walled City, a Jess Nevins' penned article about pre-war Russian pulp magazines, an interview with BoingBoing's Xeni Jardin, and art profiles on Marina Bychkova and Vania Zouravliov among other things. It's an eclectic mix to be sure.

The magazine is visually stunning, and I can't wait to get my advertiser's copy of the next issue. I'm not sure how many people actually come to Electric Velocipede from the magazine, but I have a few more issues' worth of ads to find out.
