We're still hashing out the specifics, but the big announcement I've been alluding to is that I'm entering into a partnership with Night Shade Books, as announced here a few days ago. As Ross puts it:
Night Shade Books has joined forces with World Fantasy Award-nominated magazine Electric Velocipede, and, like a pair of steam-powered metal titans joined together to form a mighty behemoth, the pair plans to march forward in unison, changing the genre fiction battlefield for the better. And if we can't charge it peaceably, we plan on grinding everything that stands against us into paste. No, not really. (actually, we do) But not really.
Obviously a huge benefit of the partnership is keeping the magazine rolling. I get to tap into some Night Shade Books resources, free up my time, and focus on selecting and editing stories. Something you'll likely see in future issues is a feature about a Night Shade Books author; it could be a story, a novel excerpt, an interview, it depends on what the author has.
When this was first brought up to me, I have to admit I tensed up. You see, I have a hard time letting go. That's why I ran this magazine on my own for eight years. But as I thought about it, Night Shade Books publishes a lot of the same authors that I publish. We certainly have similar editorial tastes. So I look at this as a win for everyone involved.
I'm very excited about this partnership, and I look forward to many years of fruitful publishing to come!

Sounds awesome!
Cool news, John! Best of luck with the partnership!
Very cool!
That's great news, sir! Congratulations.
Keen! I'm a big fan of you and of Night Shade. :)
Congrats, John! This sounds like a great collaboration.
Congratulations! I think this is a great idea.
I'd like to see an image of the steam-powered metal titans doing the paste-grinding. It would make a great cover.
Or a great art contest... =twinkle=
A toast to the partnership!

Two publishers I admire joining forces? Excellent!
Ohhhh, does this mean you'll start wearing outrageously stylish suits to blend in with Jeremy?
Hmmm so much to respond to...
First, to everyone, THANKS! This is very exciting.
Second, to Anne...maybe you should coordinate something? lol
And third, to drachin8, sadly no. I'm not allowed to take away from the luster that is Jeremy. In fact, I have been directed to dress more shabbily than normal, thereby making Jeremy look even more teh awesome.
Sure. Between you and Beth, I'm gonna have lots to do. ;]
Shall I post about a contest? That seems the most exciting way to do it. =twinkle= Or maybe 'entertaining' was the word I was seeking.

WOW! That's HUGE! Congrats and I hope it all goes smoothly and apace and that the new year brings lots of prosperity of you all together!
